Ever need to look up a MAC address to figure out which device it belongs to? Instead of copying and pasting it into an online tool, just ask Alexa! You can ask for full MAC addresses or just the vendor OUI section. This skill also supports phonetic spelling, such as 'Alpha Bravo' instead of 'A B.' The MAC ID is listed in the Alexa app on the device's About page. In fact, we need the MAC address first, and then that we'll use to find the device's current IP address. Note that fortunately, registering your Alexa device does not require its MAC address. You should see a screen with Vector's 4 digit number (NOT a MAC address) Raise and lower Vector's lift. The MAC address of the network facing interface is one digit higher than the setup interface's MAC address. Once you tap on the 'Settings', you now need to tap on 'More' as shown in the below screen capture. Now, tap on the option called 'Device' in the 'Settings' Page. After this, you now need to go to the option called 'Wi Fi Mac Address' where you will get to see the MAC Address of the device.

What is a MAC Address?

These are used in networking so different devices can be identified.

So, for example, if I always want to be able to reach my Linux server at 192.168.1.34, I tell my router the MAC address of the server and tell the router to reserve that IP address for only that MAC address.

There will be multiple uses for Vector's MAC address. We'll talk about that toward the end of this article.

Finding Vector's MAC Address

How To Find Vector's MAC Address:

1. Put Vector on his charger and wait for him to fully boot
2. Double click the button on his back
3. You should see a screen with Vector's 4 digit number (NOT a MAC address)
4. Raise and lower Vector's lift
5. Move Vector's head down then back up (This is a NEW STEP and is NOT in the video)
6. You should now see his IP address and other information
7. Tap the button on Vector's back
8. The MAC address should now be visible

If Anki makes an update after this article is published, keep in mind you might need to tap the button on Vector's back more or fewer times to get the MAC address. File rar mac.

If you leave Vector idle too long, the screen could stop showing the MAC address and you might have to repeat this process.

Why Might You Need It?

There have been a few times I needed the MAC address for something. Most notably in college to use the Wifi, we'd have to give the tech department our MAC address so they'd know it was our device.

So a lot of people in colleges trying to register their device will need to know how to find Vector's MAC address so they can tell the tech department.

The MAC address is very useful if you're trying to do things with Vector on a network.

Apple iOS

1. Select Settings from the home screen.
2. Select General
3. Select About
4. Your MAC address will be listed under Wi-Fi Address

Android

Some Android devices differ depending on the manufacturer and which version of Android is running, but in general the MAC address can be found by the following method:

1. Select Settings from the applications menu
2. Near the bottom of the settings menu, select About Device
3. Select Status
4. The MAC address will be listed under Wi-Fi MAC Address

Xbox One

1. From the main Xbox One homepage, select My Games & Apps
2. Select Settings
3. Select Network
4. Select Advanced Settings
5. Your Wired MAC address will be listed on the right

Xbox 360

1. Select My Xbox
2. Select System Settings
3. Select Network Settings
4. Select Configure Network
5. Select Advanced Settings from the Additional Settings tab
6. Select Alternate Mac Address
7. Your wired MAC address will be listed

Playstation 4

1. Select Settings
2. Select System
3. Select System Information
4. Your MAC address will be listed next to MAC address (LAN Cable)

4. When asked about your Wi-Fi info, tap on the three dots in the top-right corner of your screen.
5. You should see the MAC address of your Google Home Mini in the window that pops up.

Amazon Echo & Alexa Devices

1. Open the Alexa app on your tablet or phone.
2. Select Devices at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select Echo & Alexa in the upper-left of the screen.
4. Select the Echo device you want to register.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the About menu.
6. The MAC address will be listed on the About page.
